Michigan bus accident attorney is saddened to report that several kids were hurt when their school bus was struck by a hit and run driver in the city of Detroit. This incident happened on the west side of the city at the intersection of Heyden and Cathedral streets on Wednesday October 16, 2013.
There were 30 students travelling on the school bus when a driver blew a yield sign and hit the bus. It has been confirmed that the children were between the ages of 10 and 12 years of age and attended school at Dixon Elementary/Middle School. The bus was hit in the front corner, causing damage to the bus. The car continued to drive for a few blocks and then she left the car parked on a side street. At that time the driver disappeared.
Some of the injured kids were taken to Detroit Children’s Hospital and others were taken to Sinai Grace Hospital. All are recovering at home today.
Police are still searching for the woman who was driving the dark colored Dodge Charger. If you have any information about this woman you should contact Detroit Police.
Bus accidents can be a very scary thing. It is good to know that all of the injured kids from this accident are recovering at home today, but all of the kids on that bus should be watched closely for the next couple of days. Sometimes a person involved in a bus accident may not feel the results of their injury right away. If a child complains of pain or headaches in the days following the accident they should be taken to their doctor to review their symptoms. Do not leave pain from an accident to chance.
If you are involved in a bus accident and are diagnosed with serious injuries, be sure to call a personal injury attorney to discuss your options. If you have any questions regarding Michigan bus accident accident claims call our office at (877) 737-8800.
