Sometimes there may be a situation where a person of one faith marries a person of a different faith, and there is a blending of the celebrations of the various holidays during the marriage. This raises the question during divorce as to which holiday do the children celebrate? Generally speaking, the court will give the parties broad leeway to try to work out a clear directive for the children and how they handle religious observances. If no agreement can be made, the court has to address these issues and will make an assessment as to what is the most appropriate way for the children to respect these holidays. The ultimate goal would be for you to work this out with the other parent because if you cannot agree, then this decision could be left up to the court.
